Why I Love to Travel

One thing that you need to know about me is that I love to travel. I don’t think I can ever express how much I love traveling. For me, it takes me to another world, almost like a better version of how books and movies are able to do that; to be able to transport into different lands makes me think of how I’m living in some sort of dream land.

When I discover new places, when I learn new things, when I enrich myself in the cultures of of other people, then I feel that I am am living the life I was supposed to live. It gives my life meaning, a breath of fresh air, and if I don’t go to at least one far-off place once a year then I feel like I’m suffocating. I’m trapped in my tiny world, and only the ability to travel can allow me freedom.

After all, if you stay in your hometown, if you never get the courage to get up and leave, then you miss out on a ton of new experiences. You shouldn’t have to wait for someone to clear their schedule for the fear of being alone – if you want to travel, you go and travel! Pick a destination, map a route, and plan every little thing that you need to take, what to do, and where to stay. Fear should not hold you back from doing the things that you want to do. Enjoy every moment of this precious life that you’re given.

Maybe some things may be in your way. Financially wise, it may not be the time to go. It’s okay to put back your traveling from anywhere from a few months to a year because you may want time to save up money, or pay off a few bills before you go. But if you can, try to take one trip a year, and not let money problems get in your way. Save up in every way you can, look for ways to put some more money in your pocket, and look for ideas to travel on a cheap budget.

Perhaps someone will tell you it’s not safe to go alone, or that you should pick a different destination than the one you chose. However, as long as you’re careful on your trip, and plan out wisely, it’s rare for anything bad to happen. It is more common for terrible things to happen to women when they are alone, yet thousands of them still do it, every year, and still return home safely. You just have to be smart. Besides, traveling alone is often the best way to find yourself, to really submerse yourself in your own world, without the distractions of others. But it’s fun to travel with another, too.

You can buy the most gorgeous cashmere sweater, and the most luxurious and new top-of-the-line vehicle, and even nice furniture to put in your home. But these are all material things, objects that can be worn out, broken, damaged forever…it is memories – of new sights, of your first love, of times spent with family, and more – that can never be tarnished, that will remain with you until the end of your days. Travel allows me to experience everything that I’ve ever wanted to.

Though it’s one of the scariest things to do, traveling is also one of the most thrilling – and rewarding – things as well. With these new experiences that you gain, they will stay with you forever, and no one will be able to take that away from you. They’re yours, and yours alone.

And that is why I love to travel.
